The 8 PM Jam is more than just a band; it’s a demonstration of how friendship and creative freedom can bring to life something truly special. Formed by two friends who have known each other for years, their musical journey began as a simple escape from the pressures of daily life. At 8 PM, after their workdays concluded, they would meet to jam, allowing their musical ideas to flow freely. This nightly ritual became the foundation of their unique sound and identity.

Their music is a rich tapestry of diverse influences, drawing inspiration from the raw energy of rock, the expansive soundscapes of psychedelic music, the introspective nature of indie, the innovative textures of electronic music and embrace a fluid approach, letting the songs flow into them.  They seamlessly blend Indian and Western musical elements, creating a sound that is both familiar and refreshingly original.

The 8 PM Jam's lyrics delve into themes of seeking meaning beyond the ordinary, exploring the human desire for a more fulfilling existence. They also celebrate the beauty of nature, the strength of individuality, and the exploration of spiritual and psychedelic realms. Their songs are infused with trippy rhythms, mesmerizing synths, and the emotive power of electric and acoustic guitars, all underpinned by a driving bass and dynamic drums.

Meet the Members

1.     Kunal Panwar

o   Role: Vocals, Guitar, Lyrics and Songwriting

o   Background: Kunal  brings the heart to 8pmjam. With a voice that moves between grit and grace, and a guitar that sets the mood, he's the storyteller of the duo. Influenced by everything from classic rock, Nu metal to pop and Indie like Nirvana, Guns and Roses, Linkin Park, The beatles, Khruangbin and Glass Beams , Kunal’s songwriting is personal, poetic, and raw. He’s the kind of musician who can make silence sound beautiful. 

Kunal has been playing music since he was young, he bought his first guitar from money he took on loan and he has never looked back. Although kunal has been working as a Quant analyst for the banking sector, he spends all the time he can muster trying to perfect his craft and dreaming about playing his music live for people one day.

2.     Pranay Sharma

o   Role: Bass, Synth, Producer, and Background Vocals

o   Background:  Pranay is the sound sculptor. With his hands on the Bass and mind in the mix, he adds texture, rhythm, and atmosphere to every 8pmjam track. Drawing inspiration from Psychadelic, Rock, Alternatice, Shoegaze and Indie influences Like Tame Impala, The Strokes, My bloody valentine, slowdive etc. he’s a perfectionist who turns ideas into immersive soundscapes.

For Pranay his music journey started in 2020 pandemic when he on a whim bought his Bass guitar from the money he saved from his college deposit and later taught himself to mix music. No better choice has been made since.  

Pranay is an advocate in the High Court, trying to balance his job and his passion. He tries to find a balance in a world of black and white with his own mix of color and emotion through music and art.

Together Kunal and Pranay have found a place to experiment and create. The daily schedule jams at 8PM have become almost a ritual meditation like period for both of them. They are now looking to start sharing that passion and bring you into their world.
